Embattled District Attorney Eddie Jordan stepped down today.
Some will no doubt celebrate the announcement. Jordan was widely criticized. In a CityBusiness story this week, a former assistant district attorney called him incompetent.
But it is still not known how a $3.7-million judgment against the district attorney’s office will be paid. Mayor C. Ray Nagin today offered no solution to that problem.
How do you react to Jordan’s resignation?

We should hold a citywide prayer rally today at 1 PM to pray that he does indeed retire.

It’s about time. Harboring illegal criminals at his home just shows he is certainly part of the problem. Sadly he will probably be offered a good paying job in the private sector, which is disappointing. I personally think he quit right before the Inspector General receives his funding because they would come after him for something.

long time ago. We continue to live up to a “Third World ‘ status.

This is a great thing. Now, hopefully, a real recovery can begin with effective leadership and a purging of the criminals running rampant in the streets. But why stop with Jordan? Nagin’s next on my list for those called to resign. Would that not be exciting? An effective DA and an effective Mayor. It’s like a dream….

Like many others, I think it was great, but long overdue. He was a failure at the job, and the people of New Orleans should have demanded his resignation years ago when the courts found him guily of racial discrimination.

It’s past time but nonetheless appreciated. To make it perfect officials must push to prosecute for whatever they can find on him. After that, lock him up with Edwin.
